In an interview with FreshPlaza, Loren Zhao, co-founder of the Chinese company FruitDay, has thrown light into some of the main reasons why e-commerce giant JingDong has decided to invest in the firm. These are:
a) Concentration: “Ideally, those involved in the Fresh Food E-commerce market must be strong companies. FruitDay took six years to build its integrated supply chain, setting the industry's highest standards and thresholds.”
b) Professional standards: “FruitDay currently offers the most mature, excellent and professional operating experience within the domestic fresh fruit industry.”
c) Potential: “Fresh fruit E-commerce has great prospects. Fruit Day possesses enormous potential for the future.”
In short, he explains, “The whole process has gone very smoothly, because our concept and approach are consistent with those of Jingdong. Jingdong is also very supportive of our independent development, and our resources are very complementary, so it is a very happy and smooth process.”
